Are smoothies supposed to be green???

July 1, 2014 in Kitchen

What a vacation! We went camping, visited grandma, road tripped to Arizona (in June… not the best idea), went swimming A LOT, made fun treats, played a thousand games, and just enjoyed hanging out together – our favorite thing.

It’s still summer break for my kids, but my blog vacation is OVER and it’s time to get back to work! It’s a good thing I love this “work” so much… 😉

I haven’t been sleeping well, which makes me tired all the time, which makes me cranky, which means I’m no fun to be around. That is not okay with me — especially while my kids are home for the summer. So I have been trying to figure out how to feel better and sleep better so I can be happier and healthier.

This is what I finally decided on:

It’s the 30-Day Green Smoothie Challenge from Simple Green Smoothies!

Green smoothies are just liquid health, right? I mean, you just toss a bunch of fruits and veggies in a blender and drink it. How could that possibly NOT be good for you???

Have you ever had a green smoothie? I made my very first green smoothie TODAY, and I have to say… it looked like this and tasted like grass.

First of all, I need a MUCH cuter glass. Obviously.

I’m sure by the end of the month I will be completely hooked, but it seriously took me about 2 1/2 hours to get through my whole smoothie yesterday. Beth and I are doing the challenge together, and she couldn’t quite handle the original recipe so we added some strawberries to make it a little tastier. It still took her even longer than me to drink it all… but we’re going to figure this out and get really good at making AMAZING green smoothies!

Even though I wasn’t a huge fan of my first green smoothie flavor, I AM a HUGE fan of how I felt all day. I had more energy, wasn’t nearly as tired even though I hardly slept the night before, and just generally felt good about the changes I am making.

It’s not too late to join the challenge if you want to hop on board. We can learn to love green smoothies together!

Do you have any green smoothie tips and tricks for me?
